The exhibition attempts to create a lens, through which practitioners may care to evaluate the world of landscape design and its meaning today and in the near future, or for the interested person who just wants to know about the world of landscape design, and certainly for the student, who may find the story of landscape design, enriching his or her thinking about design in general.

A true telling of the garden histories of the Indian subcontinent will take decades of research; much of which has not been initiated as yet. While there is considerable interest in the gardens of the Mughals, little is known of the gardens that preceded this era and strangely even those that followed. From a typological perspective, we know little of the home gardens across the vast ecological variety found in the country or for example the way that parks expressed themselves in our lens and cities, or were gardens made, and who made them, the list of what we do not know fleetingly is immense.

This efforts then is by no means comprehensive and cannot lay claim to consolidate the many areas that landscape designers and garden lovers have perhaps forgotten, could invest time in exploring, and from the many lenses presented, develop a deeper appreciation of this discipline and perhaps find its generative center, and from the position reimagine a path that could reconstruct the meaning of this discipline in what is a world that sorely needs it to express itself in its fullest.
